Description

Tsuruhiki - Trailing Crane

This is another hikizuri I've had for a REALLY long time but never got around to photographing being worn.

I believe kimono to be from the early Showa period because it still has some eliments of Taisho kimono (namely the way it's padded), but the skirt is much longer than Taisho period hiki. It's more the length of a Showa period hiki.

This kimono is nearly 190cm long, but it doesn't trail much on me because it was made for someone with a much different torso to leg ratio. Basically, I'm all legs so to get the end of the collar in the right position, I had to pull the skirt up a lot. There's actually a rather huge ohashiori hidded under my obi as a result.

I imitated geiko kitsuke with a red mommi, and a criss-crossed obi for these shots. I also added a vintage kesa as a prop. The colours on the kesa and the obi bring in some popular colours of the Showa period as well to cement the historical look.
