So I've added to the kimono to do list yet again.

The first one is my lovely chaya tsuji furisode which WILL be used for a maiko cosplay. When I unstitched the karinui I found she had a bit of extra length at the bottom, so she's a good 179cm in length and the double padded hem I'm putting in will add another 4 to 5cm. She won't trail incredibly, but it should be roughly comparable to my bride's furisode.

The second one is a very long kurotomesode (185cm!) which I'm going to lengthen even more into a beautifully sophisiticated geiko cosplay.

The third kimono is a lovely purple hikizuri. I made it for the same lady that I made the Aiko furisode for.

Next I have glimpse of the fabric I'm using for a nifty Canada yukata and obi set.

The fifth kimono is a beautiful uchikake which I'm hoping to adapt into another oiran cosplay.
Progress: In the works

The sixth image is one of the two batik tapestries I bought with plans to make a neat hikizuri. It features some beautiful dragons to add to my dragon kimono collection
Progress: Still in the closet

The seventh furisode is a gift for :iconsilverreprisal: She going to end up with a collection of dark green furisode patterned in sakura if I keep this up XD. I have to try to finish this before AN so I can dress her up again!
Progress: Still in the Closet

The eighth furisode is the biggest karinui I've ever seen. When I first took it out of the package I thought it was more than one kimono. XD So that one is definitely going to be made into a hikizuri too.
Progress: Still in the Closet

The nineth is one I got from Ichiroya. It's the most expensive karinui I've ever purchased, but it's going to make the most perfect formal maiko hikizuri. The seasonality is so specific and the patterns are just bold enough without being over the top. This one will require some lengthening too.
Progress: Still in the Closet

The tenth one is a little girl's furisode that I got because weeping cherry on royal blue is like my dream kimono. I'm probably going to just barely be able to wear it, but I don't care.
Progress: Still in the Closet

The eleventh one is another from Ichiroya. I got this one because it was cheap in excellent condition and nice and long (182cm). I haven't decided what I'll do with it yet. It doesn't look like much in the photos, but it's quite elegant in reality. It's a much nicer lavender shade with delicate gold flowers and intricate embroidery on it.

And the twelfth kimono is a beautiful synthetic bolt I got with a faux bingata print. It will look so lovely with my yellow bingata juban!

And now I must get to sewing... and I must stop buying things to sew... XD

Neither can I! Too bad I have so much other stuff going on right now too. The chaya tsuji furisode has been hanging in my basement half finished for weeks now. I still need to finish one sleeve, attach it, add the front extension panels, put on the collar and add the second lining... WHY MUST EVERYTHING I LIKE TO DO BE SO MUCH WORK!!!

Ichiroya is a dangerous addiction for me. I buy from them when I'm really depressed and it winds up costing me lots of money.
I've got about a dozen lovely karinui that are waiting for me to sew them but I don't really know how. That's on top of the like 20 bolts of fabric that I have.
I do own several finished kimono though. 3 uchikake, 2 furisode, a tsukesage and an irotomesode from before WW2 that is in desperate need of repair.
Hmm, I could take pictures of my kimono and put them up and then I would have something on my page finally. Not a bad idea.

One confusing thing I need cleared up here (very lovely half finished collection so far by the way :p) What do you keep refering to as an "aiko"? 'Cause I've never seen that term used before o.oa

the second one from the left on the bottom. does it by chance have white and black butterflies on it? I saw one on ebay that looks like the one in your picture
:iconkurokami-kanzashi:
Nope, it's actually all plum and cherry blossoms
:iconkurokami-kanzashi:
Aiko is just what I named that lady's kimono. :)
