Well, I recently decided to try turning my passion for buying kimono into a passion for selling them.
This was my third offering for all of you, from the first bundle of kimono I bought to sell. In that bundle I got three gorgeous, vintage furisode in amazing condition. I listed all three of them on etsy from most expensive to least expensive. This was the least expensive one, and it has already been sold. It's currently on its way to its new home in Australia. If you still want to take a look at the detail photos, you can see them here: [link]
This furisode features a graceful pattern of coiling waves, sakura (cherry blossoms) and soaring cranes. The details on the pink portions of the waves are delicate shibori. I had some difficulty photographing the pink waves; they appear rather bright in the above image. The waves are a sort of dusty, coral pink in reality.
This furisode likely originates in the Heisei Period (1989 - present), probably the 1990's. It is 100% silk. I believe the outside is kinsha, while the white lining is likely habbotai.
