I bought this lovely antique furisode a few months ago. I'm thinking it's either late taisho or early showa period.
Unfortunately, this little baby was in much worse condition that the seller represented. I was under the impression that some of the kinkoma embroidery was in need of repair. When it arrived, I found the embroidery was BEYOND repair (hanging off all over), and a number of the seams had come open. In the end I decided that the value of this kimono would be better preserved with the kinkoma embroidery removed. Originally all the beautiful peacocks were outlined in gold. Well, I carefully unpicked the embroidery and repaired the seams, and now she's a beautiful lady once more! This kimono being worn: [link] [link] [link] |
