Kikuaya I

Yay more kitsuke today! I got a few more ensembles together for photos. Now I've got pictures of myself in almost every kimono I own.

Kikuaya Chrysanthemum Design

This is my pre-world war black furisode. It's still in need of repair, but I was able to put it on shortly. I've come to the conclusion that this is likely a kimono made for export. It has a conspicuous "Made in Japan" lable on the inside of the collar - most "true kimono" don't have lables like that. The collar is also sewn half width, the sleeves are unusually square for a furisode and the length is quite short - leaving nothing for an ohashiori. Even when I wear it as it is, you can still see my underskirt peaking out at the bottom. I didn't want to pull that up at all because then you'd see the top of my socks and I thought that would look weird. Still, I love this little beauty!

You can't see much of it, but that's my dragon chuuya obi that I'm wearing. The dragon patterned side isn't showing - rather the calm flower and stream side is. Now, I couldn't for the life of me figure out what I did with my obi-ita. I couldn't find it anywhere! So wrinkly obi for me. today...
