Kaede no Odori - Dance of the Maple Leaves.

Well, this little lady arrived in the mail today.

This is a half lined odori kimono I purchased for about $25. I got it because of the beautiful maple leaf patterns on it. I'm such a sucker for maple leaves - must be the Canadian in me.

Kaede is a word used in Japanese to describe leaves that are still somewhat green (as in haven't changed colour for autumn yet). Momiji is the term used to refer to turning leaves. Kaede (green leaf) motif is wearable during the summer, while momiji is meant to be worn in late summer and early fall. Now I'm assuming since this is half lined, it would be wearable in summer. So I chose the word kaede for this kimono's name due to its green base colour and season of wear.

Anyways, this kimono is not a hikizuri, but it is a dance kimono. And thus the allusion to dance in the kimono's name

Look Jess! It's your favourite colour! Maybe you can wear it at AN! *hint hint, nudge nudge* XD

Thank you! I'm going to wait for that orange maru obi I bought to arrive. The one meant to go with my maiko hiki. I think it will look really nice with this kimono.
