For the sake of proper geiko cosplay, I was in need of a nice white han'eri for my kosode juban. I would have liked to get my hands on some nice obi scraps, but that wasn't working out - especially because I wanted something with a dragon motif to match the hikizuri I recently purchased:

Anyways, as I was thinking of where to get such fabric I remembered an old costume I once made and was ready to canibalize. It had some large pieces of white Chinese silk brocade with dragons on it! I was able to cut them up and make this han'eri. Along with that, I made an extra attachment at the back meant to keep the collar nice and low down on the neck (geisha style). I don't have it all that low in the pictures, though.

And again, there's the work of my new geisha makeup set!

I don't think so. From what I know it's a more modern invention to keep the collar back. It's used in normal kitsuke and geisha kitsuke too.
Thanks, that infomation is very useful to me.
