Chouchan - Little Butterfly
"When you love something, you let it go. If it comes back, it loved you too"
This is one of those things that I let go, and thanks to Jaki-san from IG, it found it's way back to me. This is actually the maiko hikizuri I had to sacrifice in a bidding war to win this darari obi: [link] They were both being sold by the same seller. The person who won it thankfully, only wanted to relist it and sell it - and the markup wasn't too bad.
Anyways, this is the komon hikizuri that maiko Kochou is wearing in the video shown in her blog: [link] As mentioned when I got the darari obi, Kochou is one of my all time favourite geiko, so to have a hiki and obi that she once wore is such an amazing feeling! And the hiki has been reunited with it's obi sister to boot!
When I got the hiki, the tucks had been removed, but there was definite evidence of where they'd been. I could even see where the original stitches once were. I carefully sewed the tucks back in place and even made sure to use the holes of the original stitches.

This is such a beautiful hiki. When I was wandering around youtube I found this video and wondered if it was the same kimono :
