Artist's Comments

Yay! So I got all dolled up for a Halloween party last week. This is the maiko ensemble I'd been putting together with my chaya tsuji furisode for quite some time. I had hoped to wear it to Anime North in May, but I had too many costumes and not enough time to wear them all. XD

Anyways, I'd tried to get a nice full length easy-darari obi put together for this outfit, but I didn't have time to finish it. So instead I used a fukuro obi and tied a short darari knot like a minarai would wear (minarai are maiko who are in the very early stages of training). Usually junior maiko only have their bottom lip painted red, but I personally don't feel that look really suits me. So I painted just a bit of my upper lip as well, just to balance things out a bit.

The kanzashi go very well with this kimono, the whole outfit just looks awesome and the colors fit together very well!

mmm it's a very beautiful arrangement of colours. I always love traditional Japanese clothing.
The hair does kind of take away from the clothes however, and in the far left image it the flowers cover you face.
Perhaps if you wear it again, you should leave the hair with a little less, that way it doesn't take away from the outfit.
Anyway, it's is a very nice outfit well done!

Aargh! It's beautiful! And you look gorgeous wearing it!

Yay for beautiful garments and fabrics, and welcome back!

Can I ask, do you use a katsura or do you style your own hair? And can I also ask if and what sort of oshiroi you use?

Thank you! I love your work!

I'm just stunned as to how you did your hair. That must have been so hard.

Great look though! I'm glad you've kept it authentic. =)

Excuse me while I wipe away the drool from my Keyboard. What a beautiful girl you are wearing, and you look fantastic in her!

PS: Your Kanzashi is to die for! Your hair looks so dead on here!
